Anthony G. Buddes graduated from Ellsworth Memorial High School in 1940 and was a farmer.

He enlisted on 21 February 1943.

He was married to Stacia Saczawa on 1 May 1943.

Kitty Kay was shot down by flak during a mission to Oranienburg and crashed near the village Schmachtenhagen, three miles east of the town Oranienburg. Anthony was taken POW and handed over to the SS at the Clay Tile Works of the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, where he was interrogated by the chief of the works, SS Obersturmbannfuhrer Heinrich Fresemann. As prisoners eyewitnessed, during the interrogation Fresemann shot down Buddes and killed him.

According to official records, Sgt Buddes most likely killed on 10 April 1945. He was officially declared dead on 16 March 1946.
