Pvt George Othmer was serving with a paratrooper division. He entered service on Jan. 3, 1944, training at Fort McClellan, Ala., and Fort Benning Ga. He had been overseas and stationed in England since Oct. 10, 1944, and had apparently gone to Belgium shortly before he was reported missing. He was graduating from Muscatine high school with the class of 1934. His marriage to Edith Long took place in Muscatine on Feb. 6, 1939. The couple moved to Cedar Rapids where Pvt Othmer was employed at the Wilson Packing Co. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two sons, Michael Lee, 5 and Richard George, 3, a brother and a sister.
