Sgt Earl F. Phenow graduated from Osseo high school.He entered the service in February, 1941 and went overseas in March. On the morning of 14 December the Division initiated the attack as planned. CCA attacked
through Gey at 09:25; its advance elements having reached the outskirts at the city at 09:00. The attack was delayed for a few hours in the late morning by considerable quantities of mines which had laid on the
road leading from Gey to Horn. Sgt Phenow was killed on this road.
His brother 2nd Lt Harold C. Phenow is buried next to him at Grave 23.
