More information

Capt Charles D. Renfrow graduated from West Plains High School and graduated in veterinary medicine from Kansas State College.

2nd Lt Gardner B. Taylor:
At approximately 1715, 13 March 1945, I was flying #4 position on Capt Renfrow’s left wing. As we began our turn unto the bomb run, the flight received several close bursts of flak at about 11 o’clock and slightly above the formation. A few seconds after this Capt Renfrow’s left engine began smoking and he began to fall behind the leading element. About fifteen or thirty seconds later, Capt Renfrow pulled up above the formation to the left, then fell off on his right wing, passing beneath my ship where I lost sight of him. After his engine began smoking I could see Capt Renfrow working his throttles, and he appeared to be uninjured. There were no holes in his aircraft that were visible to me.

1st Lt John G. Allen:
Four parachutes from aircraft were reported sighted by spitfire fighter cover which was in vicinity. Capt Renfrow's parachute did not open.
