Pvt Richard E. Race attended Cooperstown High School and was employed at Smith's Food Store.He enlisted at Fort Dix, New Jersey on 21 April 1944 and was sent overseas in December 1944.
According to the After Action Report, 1st Platoon of A Company lost one tank when it was hit by a Panzerfaust. Two men were killed. Most likely Pvt Race was one of them.
