S/Sgt Ralph T. Crandell was married to Eva Davenport on 1 November 1941.

He enlisted in Peoria, Illinois on 17 October 1942.

From February 1945 to March 1945 he was hospitalized for wounds in his face, caused by debris.

He was killed in action when his tank was hit. His leg was amputated by a shell.

On 25 March 1945, his brother Leonard was killed in action. He is buried at the American Military Cemetery and Memorial of Margraten, Netherlands.
