1st Lt Edward A. Mitchell Jr. worked in a chemical plant before he joined the Regular Army in Chicago, Illinois on 15 September 1942.He was a veteran of the D-Day landing in Normandy and the Operation Market-Garden in The Netherlands.
He was killed in action by artillery fire.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
