T/5 Robert J. Loya worked on a farm before he joined the Regular Army in Rutland, Vermont on 18 October 1941. He was sent overseas in November 1943.

He died of injuries to his stomach, sustained in a vehicle accident.

His brother, Andrew T. Loya, is buried next to him.

His brother Russell enlisted and was sent overseas, together with Robert.
