More information

Ellis Rogers attended college.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States at Portland Airbase, Oregon on 25 March 1942.

Statement of 1st Lt Ernest C. Tiede Jr., who flew in the same mission: "I was Capt Rogers' wingman when we attacked 20 plus FW 190s at 1200 hours at Soltau, Germany. We dove on 4 FW 190s and two broke off, which we followed. Diving straight down at 625 mph indicated air speed, Capt Rogers tried to turn inside the 190s and, at approximately 10,000 feet, I saw his right wing come off right at the fuselage and his plane go straight through the clouds. I did not observe any chute open and levelled off at 7,500 feet and climbed back up."
