More information
Pvt Kenneth R. Balfour graduated from St Clair high school in June, 1940 and was employed at the Chrysler Corporation. He entered the service in April, 1944 and trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky and Camp Chaffee before sent overseas in October, 1944.
The battalion's After Action Report states that B Company cleared several villages and towns between Rödichen and Wüllersleben between 8 and 11 April 1945. The other companies were also involved in the fighting in the area but only B Company is reported to have lost two tanks and suffered six wounded and two missing during this period. It can therefore be assumed that Pvt Balfour was one of the men reported missing in action and belonged to this company.
