More information

Pfc Paul M. Lavoie worked at the local shoe shop.

He enlisted in Manchester, New Hampshire on 9 February 1943.

He enjoyed chopping firewood with his eldest brother, Gerard, who entered the military in 1942. He loved to fix things and he especially loved to take his nieces and nephews swimming at various bodies of water. His nephew said, "Uncle Paul would load all of us into a car and off we'd go for a fun time of swimming." Most of all, he loved his mother and was known as "mother's sweetheart boy".

He first served with the Medical Corps and was assigned to a hospital in France. He later requested a transfer to the infantry, which was granted three weeks before his death.
