Sgt Hamilton L. Hurtt enlisted in Louisville, Kentucky on 31 December 1942.S/Sgt Jack G. Giles:
“Ship #056 hit by fighters. After leaving the formation more attacks were made, where upon I saw two men leave the ship followed closely by two more. The ship turned over on its back, went into a dive. It finally leveled off, then two more chutes left the plane before its final plunge.”
2nd Lt Harold E. Schuchardt:
“Sgt Hurtt was killed by one of the first fighter attacks because we did not hear his voice over the interphone after the first attack.”
