Pfc John E. Hight was a trucker at the Missouri District Civilian Conservation Corps before he enlisted on 14 March 1941. He trained at Fort Riley, Kansas, and was sent overseas to Alaska in February 1942. He served there as a military policeman until he returned to the States in May 1944.
