Maj F. W. Schaub:“Lt Floyd, followed his element leader down on a ME-109. His element leader overshot the enemy aircraft after scoring several hits. Lt Floyd also overshot the enemy aircraft. Lt Franklin, who was in yellow flight, immediately thereafter, saw a P-51 with a ME-109 on its tail. Tracers were passing near the 51 but no hits were seen. Lt Carr, Lt Floyd’s element leader, never saw either the enemy aircraft or Lt Floyd after he overshot the enemy. Lt Floyd was not heard by anyone on the radio. He was last seen at 5022N-1915E.
