More information

Capt William J. Faulkner Jr. attended college before he volunteered for the Air Corps of the U.S. Army in Los Angeles, California on 17 August 1942.

1st Lt Robert J. Friend:
"At about 1030 hours on 6 November 1944, I saw Capt William J. Faulkner Jr., pull his plane sharply. It did a quarter roll to the left and one complete spiral straight down. The plane appeared to have begun to straighten out because it went into a cloud and leveled out at about 45 degree. I watched the spot where he entered the cloud layer, but there was no indication of recovery or crash. At the time of the pull-up, we were at about 28,000 feet.
