S/Sgt James W. Crawford attended Derita High School and was employed at the Bahonson Company.He enlisted at Fort Bragg, North Carolina on 11 March 1942 and was sent overseas in June 1944.
S/Sgt Crawford is remembered at Elmwood Cemetery in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina with a memorial marker.
His brother Kenneth served with the U.S. Navy.
