2nd Lt Howard I. Glashoff Jr. was a toolmaker.He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Baltimore, Maryland on 11 November 1942.
The airplane was seen by a member of another crew with engine #4 feathered and starting to fall behind the formation. Another eye witness reported engine #3 feathered. The pilot asked for fighter support by VHS and said that two engines were out. Five minutes later a call came through stating that he had fighter support.
Eight crew members were taken prisoner, only Lt Glashoff was killed.
The Glashoff crew was interred at Stalag Luft I, near the town of Barth, and liberated on 1 May 1945. Sgt John E. Haerle was repatriated and was killed in an airplane accident. He is also buried at Ardennes.
2nd Lt Glashoff was initially buried at the soldier graveyard in Haus Spital on 23 November 1944.
