Pfc Ernie J. Wines was employed at the Sullivan Machinery Company before he enlisted in Indianapolis, Indiana on 12 February 1943.

Ernie and his brother Ernest enlisted around the same time, hoping to be paratroopers together.
He is remembered at the Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana.
