More information
Capt William C. Forehand:I was leading white flight on 8 August 1944. At 1350 we spotted approximately twenty-five FW 190’s in the vicinity of Dreux and made a bounce. Lt Allen was flying white two. My element broke into fifteen E/A, and I covered them. Lt Allen dropped back too far in trail, and when we were bounced by approximately thirty more FW 190’s, he was apparently hit. I saw a P-51 streaming smoke go down at 1355. I assumed this to be Lt Allen’s ship.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery in Solers, France.
