S/Sgt Joseph F. Kolzer graduated from Collingwood High School. He was employed at Park Appliance Company.

He enlisted at Cleveland, Ohio, on 26 October 1942 and was sent overseas in February 1944.

S/Sgt John W. Baker: "I was flying in #21 position in Dog Box on 7 August 1944. I saw Capt Tudor's plane fly under our plane in a vertical dive. His #3 and #4 engines were on fire. I did not see any chutes, nor did I see the plane hit the ground."
