Pvt Charles E. Whisenhunt worked on an oil field before he enlisted on 17 September 1943.Together with four of his comrades, Pvt Whisenhunt was buried in a field near a road, approximately 1.3 miles southeast from the center of the town Oosterzele. They were killed when their glider crashed in the field and were buried by the surviving crew members.
