More information

Glen W. St John graduated from Pensacola High School and was employed in the advertising department of the News-Journal in 1941 and 1942.

He joined the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Barrancas, Florida, on 6 November 1942. He was sent overseas in January 1945.

He was married to Audrey Elizabeth Weekley in August 1944 when he was stationed at Thomasville, Georgia.

Lt St. John was killed in a flying accident. He was ferrying an aircraft to Fritzlar, Germany. The flight encountered difficult weather, and he became separated from his comrades. The flight leader was unable to contact Lt St. John. A search later revealed that his plane crashed in the vicinity of Kassel, Germany. His body was recovered and initially buried in St. Andrew's Cemetery at Issum, Germany.

Lt St. John had flown seven combat missions against the enemy and had a total of 34 combat hours in the air.
