Sgt Rex W. Spivey graduated from Marianna High School in 1941 where he was captain of the Bulldogs, the local football team following three previous years of outstanding activities on his team. He also was All - West Florida guard during his senior year. He was employed at J. B. McCrary Engineers.He enlisted at Fort McClellan, Alabama on 22 October 1942.
Sgt Spivey's had been reported wounded in action earlier and was treated in a hospital in England. after recovering, he retunred to his unit.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
