1Lt Edwin M. Helton enlisted in Tulsa, Oklahoma on 19 August 1942. According german records 1Lt Helton was captured and killed on the run.

Lt. Helton was flying # 5 position and about the time we came to the target I heard on VHF radio, a report which I believe came from Lt. Helton, that his controls had been knocked out. When we re-assembled, after leaving the target area, Lt. Helton was missing.

The Plane crashed in Klink Neustralitz, Germany, all 9 were KIA.
