2nd Lt James Watson joined the Pennsylvania National Guard in February 1941. On 13 October 1942 he was graduated from the Engineer Officer Candidate School at Fort Belvoir, Virginia and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant.He already had participted in the invasion of Normandy.
