Sgt Kerman L. Hinkle enlisted at Fort George G. Meade, Maryland on 25 March 1941. He joined his unit from a replacement depot on 21 November 1944.While in barracks in Bremen, Germany Sgt Hinkle heard two soldiers fighting outside. As an NCO he was duty bound to resolve the situation and went outside to break up the fight. While trying to break up the fight, Sgt Hinkle was shot by an unknown soldier. He died from his wounds
