1st Lt Charles N. Todd was a graduate of Huntington School, Boston, class of 1938, and attended Dartmouth College for two years. During his four years at Huntington, he was an honor student and also took part in several extra-curricular activities. He was a manager of track in his junir year and in his senior year he was vice-president of his class, captain of the tennis team and editor-in-chief of the Huntington Record.
Following his two years at Dartmouth, he was with the Krippendorf Kalculator Company of Lynn until his enlistment.
He enlisted in Boston, Massachusetts on 29 January 1942. He received his basic training at Fort Bragg in North Carolina and was commissioned a second lieutenant at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, in August, 1942, when he was 21. He was promoted to first lieutenant in April, 1943, while he was at Camp Hood, Texas. He went overseas in November 1944.
Charles Nelson Todd, was the middle son of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson B. Todd, who were given the tragic news of Charles death, barely three months after receiving the news about David. Charles was almost four years David's senior and reading about Charles academic achievements you can see he was a great source of inspiration on David.
His brother David B. Todd, is buried at Henri-Chapelle Cemetery.
