Pfc Julian Bumpus was married to Pearl Yarbrough on 8 February 1941.

He was sent overseas in July 1944.

Pfc Bumpus was initially buried at the Canadian Military Cemetery of Nijmegen, the Netherlands around 26 June 1945. He was distinterred and evacuated to Margraten on 9 July 1945 where he was reburied in a temporary grave on 28 July 1945. After being disinterred again and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place at the end of February 1949.
