Elmer Thomas was married to Nova Belle Underwood on 7 February 1942.He enlisted in Huntington, West Virginia on 2 May 1942.
According to the Morning Report of the Company, one enlisted man was killed at 07:30 hrs. by an enemy anti-personnel bomb that hit the command post area of the 104th Signal Company. Given that the Morning Report mentions no other victims for this date, this can only involve T/5 Thomas. The 104th Sginal Company was part of the 104th Infantry Division and was stationed in that area around that date.
