More information

Capt Flowers graduated from Hemlock High School and Ohio State University in June 1941. In July 1941, he entered the field artillery school at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and from there was transferred to Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

He landed in North Africa in November 1942, participating in battles there and through Italy, France and into Germany and Belgium.

He was reported wounded in action in Bizerte in North Africa, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time and also the Bronze Star Medal.
