Pfc Robert M. Scott enlisted on 2 February 1940.

Robert Scott was a resident of the Cathedral Home for Children at Laramie for twelve years prior to entering the army. He attended grade school and high school there. Robert and his brother William were brought there under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge and placed in the home. Their father, musician Joseph Scott, died in 1928. The Scott family homesteaded near Deaver, Wyoming.

Robert served in Africa and Europe. He was killed by artillery fire prior to the Waal River crossing.

He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery in Molenhoek, The Netherlands. He was reburied at Margraten on 17 February 1949.
