Pvt Nelson W. Bennethum was employed by the Lebanon Paper Box Company and he was active in the Democratic party.He enlisted in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania on 29 June 1943 and trained at Fort Dix, New Jersey, Madison Barracks, New York, Camp Kilmar, New Jersey and in West Virginia, Louisiana and Mississippi. He was sent overseas in August 1944.
