Lt Beatty grzduated from Court House High School and worked for the Cleveland at the Thompson Aircraft Factory before he enlisted in December 1944. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and participated in races.He received a battlefield commission when het was promoted from Technical Sergeant to 2nd Lieutenant on 24 January 1945.
He was killed by artillery fire.
He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Ittenbach, Germany.
