Lyle Paulson enlisted on 26 January 1943.

He was wounded in action and was taken prisoner on 20 September 1944 in the vicinity of Veghel-Dinther, the Netherlands. He died op his wounds a day later in a German dressing station. The exact location is not known.

He died on the birthday of his only sister, Myrtle.
