Vincent Pithan attended Ute High School.

He enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 8 October 1941 and was sent overseas in July 1943.

On 10 May 10 1943, he was married to Isabelle Canizo.

His promotion to 2n Lieutenant was a battlefield commission.

At 0900 hours on 17 December, a heavy concentration of Nebelwerfer fire bracketed the town of Mutzenich and B Battery CP received six direct hits, burning the Command Post and four vehicles. Three Officers and five enlisted men were. 2nd Lt Pithan, assistant platoon leader of the st platoon, died as a result of his wounds.

A Memorial Bridge in Iowa is named in honor of 2nd Lt Vincent C. Pithan.
