More information
T/Sgt John Shufritz attended Rossford High School for three years. He enlisted on 29 July 1942 at Toledo, Ohio.
Statement from Intelligence Officer:
"32 A/C of 93rd Bomb Group reached target on this mission. On interrogation two enlisted men in other crews stated that they saw this aircraft crash and burst in to flames in the target area, from an altitude of less than 300 feet."
A crewmember last saw T/Sgt Shufritz when he told him to get ready to bail out due to the fire in the waist compartment. A few days after he got captured, he vaguely remembered hearing an account of a man whose parachute had failed to open in time. The description of the men gave him the impression that is might have been T/Sgt Shufritz.
He was first buried at Block U, Row 10, Grave 231.
