S/Sgt Leo J. Husak graduated from West High School and worked on his father's farm.He enlisted on 3 February 1943, and was sent overseas in October 1944.
He was leading a reconnaissance patrol in the vicinity of Rollesbroich, Germany. The patrol turned a corner and came under extensive enemy fire. His buddies could not retrieve his body and had to retreat. When they came back with additional resources they were not able to find him.
On 26 February 2018 the Defence POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced that the remains of S/Sgt Leo J. Husak were identified. A rosette was placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for. He was buried in his hometown on 23 June 2018.
