Cpl Myron M. Burdge was a graduate of North Fairfield High School and was employed by the Autocal Company in Shelby.He enlisted in January 1942 and was sent overseas in September 1942.
At the time of his death, his brother Robert was stationed in Greenland with the Army Air Corps.
On 9 October 1944 C Battery held positions in the vicinity of Zetten, The Netherlands. In the mist of a firing mission, the battery was hit by enemy 152mm shells, killing Lt John Sluzewich and S/Sgt Peter Lutz. Cpl Burdge was amongst the men that were wounded. Pfc Larry Davis and Cpl Burdge died of their wounds two days later in a field hospital. The exact location is not known.
