Pvt John G. Fitch graduated from Pomfret Academy in 1942 and attended Yale University.He volunteered for the Army of the United States at Fort Devens, Massachusetts on 25 February 1943. He was selected for the ASTP program and was sent to North Central College in Naperville, Illinois.
