More information

Daniel Berty was a miner.

He enlisted in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on 30 September 1942.

According to a newspaper article of the The La Crosse Tribune of 17 June 1945, a bomb struck a building in which 18 men of the battalion were in. Eight men were killed and three were wounded.

However, according to the IDPF, T/5 Berty was killed by small arms fire in the back.

He was initially buried in a temporary grave at Henri-Chapelle on 21 December 1944. After being disinterred and after the cemetery was given a permanent status, he was given his final resting place on 8 September 1948.
