More information
Frank Panico was in an apartment at 18 Kiliaanstraat, Antwerp, Belgium, when it was hit by a V-bomb. Considerable confusion as regards the identification of the bodies resulted from the fact that hundreds of casualties from the Rex Cinema and other bombed areas were brought into all available hospitals during that week.Frank Panico was buried at Schoonselhof Cemetery, Antwerp, but his identity was confused with that of Mr. Goetchius, who was initially interred at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Fosse, resulting in their names on the graves being switched. It was some time after the burial that the mistake was discovered and the names on the graves were corrected.
He died of extensive head injuries.
