Pvt Herbert W. Smith was employed by the Phillips and Buttorff Manufacturing Company before he enlisted in Nashville, Tennessee on 24 February 1941.He was a veteran of the Tunisian, Sicilian and Italian campaign and was stationed in England prior to the invasion of Normandy.
He was hit and killed by a landing glider.
Pvt Smith was given his final resting place at Margraten in January 1949.
