More information

The photo was taken in 1944 when he was in training to be a B-24 pilot. He failed his training and volunteered for the infantry.

Charles Ingraham graduated from high school and worked in a storehouse.

He enlisted in Hartford, Connecticut on 19 November 1942 and volunteered for pilot training to become a bomber pilot. The photo was taken during this period.

He failed his training and volunteered for the infantry and arrived in France on 5 December 1944.

Cpl Ingraham was killed in the woods on the north side of Bonnerue, near a farm that was owned by Jules Roba.

On 1 January 1945, L Company lost ten men in Bonnerue.

Together with several other casualties, they were listed as killed in action on 2 January in Bras. This is incorrect but this mistake is most likely caused by the confusion during this period of fierce fighting.
