Pfc George Herbert was a miner before he enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 8 April 1943. He volunteered for the airborne infantry after basic training and obtained his wings at Camp Forrest, Tennessee. He was sent overseas in August 1944.He was first buried at theTemporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
