More information

Pvt Daniel H. Clute graduated from Wilbur Lynch High School in 1940.

He joined the Regular Army in Albany, New York on 13 January 1941. He joined the paratrooper in October 1943 and trained at Fort Benning. He was sent overseas in January 1944 and participated in the D-Day jump into Normandy.

Per Lt Richard A. Campbell of the 3rd Bn: "He had the task of laying wire to other companies so they would be able to keep in communication with their headquarters. I have recommended him for a medal for his fine work in this campaign. It was one of his many trips between the companies when he was hit by enemy artillery fire."

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
