Pfc William B. Walsh's attended Loyola University for one year.

His paternal grandparents immigrated from Ireland, and his mother immigrated from Canada.

Pfc William B. Walsh was killed by artillery shell fragments to his head.

His brother John E. Walsh, served with the 331st Bomber Squadron and was killed in action in Freisack, Germany on 18 April 1944. He is buried next to his brother.

After Pfc Walsh was killed in action, a third brother Austin Walsh, who was serving in New Guinea, was immediately returned home from his service, as the last surviving son of the Walsh family.
