T/4 Francis A. Six attended high school for two years and worked on a farm before he enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan on 4 November 1942.

He was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action at Fischbach, Germany on 20 March 1945. The citation reads in part: "When a column was counterattacked by numerous hostile bazooka teams, T/4 Six, tank driver, courageously dismounted and engaged the enemy with submachine gun fire, killing three of the enemy before falling, mortally wounded."

T/4 Six was killed by a gunshot to the head.
