Cpl Leo E. Pichler volunteered for the U.S. Army in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on 7 February 1942.He was killed in combat in defiant defense of Bastogne, securing a forward area to knock out a German tank column on a railroad embankment.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery Grand Failly, France.
