S/Sgt John J. Fulara attended Peckham Vocational High School and was employed by the Acme Freight Company before he enlisted in Buffalo, New York on 26 August 1941.

At the request of his family, he is buried next to his brother Edward F. Fulara.

Fulara Brothers Post #4734, Veterans of Foreign Wars, in South Buffalo is named after John and Edward Fulara.
