Harry N. McLaughlin was employed at the Production Credit association.

He had joined the battalion nine days earlier at Wiltingen.
When the tail of the column was clearing out the village before, the leading elements were under accurate automatic-weapons fire from the southwest. Lt McLaughlin and three men of the 1st Platoon were killed.
